I serve organisations throughout the UK and the Irish Republic while also helping my home based community in Sudbury, Suffolk and the wider East Anglian region including Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire taking in, but not exclusively, Norwich, Lowestoft, Harwich, Colchester, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Newmarket, Bury St. Edmunds, Braintree, Haverhill, Cambridge, Peterborough, Hertford, Hatfield, St. Albans, Welwyn, Clacton, Basildon and Southend and the bordering Enfield and East London Boroughs.  Many of my longer established clients relate geographically to my previous home / office bases in West Drayton, near Heathrow and in Harefield, near Watford and Uxbridge.

 

Distance is usually no object, subject to common sense in terms of recovery of costs for the necessary excess travelling time and associated travel / accommodation and subsistence.

About me and my Associates

 

I am a management services professional.  This means that I practice in industrial engineering, work study / organisation and methods, quality, environmental (and with my Associate, Trevor Walker's help - health and safety) management.

 

My professional background began in manufacturing and then moved on to engineering, warehousing & distribution, retail - applying my skills in industrial and production engineering, manufacturing (small / single batch) project management in FMCG, productivity and management services - and later, to quality, environmental, health, safety and general compliance management.

 

I have also been an employer and I have managed employed and contract staff engaged by smaller businesses throughout my career - and so, I have first-hand understanding and experience of many of the issues befalling an employer. 

 

I am home based in Sudbury, Suffolk - very near to Colchester, Bury St. Edmunds and Ipswich - having been formerly twin-based at West Drayton near Heathrow and Harefield, near Uxbridge, Middlesex.

 

In my early career, I worked in technical, supervisory and drawing office environments - in the furniture making trade, as well as holding  production management positions in both formally Trade Unionised and non-Trade Union working situations.


I was formally trained in sales and sales management by a national industrial engineering and management services consulting and training group, and was then promoted from the role of self-employed field / contract Practitioner to an employed Regional Operations Manager, responsible to the Regional Director, for the development of the business in my assigned geographic areas and industry sectors through increased sales and by increasing the size of the region's customer base.  This new position also required the selection and recruitment of new field based practitioners, the management of field operations and project management of some of the consultancy work undertaken by the company.


In the 1990s, I began working as an independent contractor and then consultant, having formed my own business, initially providing industrial engineering and quality management services to a wide range of very large, medium and very small businesses in a wide variety of industries and with and UK Govt. / public authorities.
